GIFT WEEK - day 5

This is irrevocably the fifth and last day of our gift week. Thanks to all of you who downloaded and listened/watched the stuff, we uploaded during the week.
All the uploaded material will remain on our sites, spaces and blogs – so be sure to tell the ones who missed out on the weeks drama: “Don’t worry.” ;)

The last gift, gift number 5, is a new video: an (almost) unplugged rearrangement of the song “Afsked Forkortet” from our debut album (“Fokus”). It is the kind of acoustic drum ‘n’ bass post-rocked improvisated pop that we’re really in to for the time being. The video starts of with three minutes of impro centered around our cornetist and violinist followed by the two verses of the song in a free and spontaneous atmosphere. The song ends in an explosion of vocalharmonies, heavy acoustic piano, bass and bombastic drums accompanied by massive trombone lines. Very nice.

GIFT WEEK - day 4

Today, on this beautiful fourth day of our gift week, we first and foremost celebrate filmmaker David Lynch for his enormous inspiration to the compositions written within the Epicentre framework. The suspense and spiritual mystique surrounding his works and the characters in them alongside with Angelo Badalementi’s intriguing scores has been one the mayor sources of compositional direction in the past years.
In its simplicity, we furthermore just enjoy watching his movies – and “Twin Peaks” of course.

As a tribute we have, during our winter/spring-tour, opened most of our concerts with a cover of one of the many fantastic songs he’s written for his films. “In heaven everything is fine” is sung by the lady in the radiator in Lynch’s first full-length movie “Eraserhead” – “a dream of dark and troubling things”.

GIFT WEEK - day 3

We are halfway with our gift week moving on from cosy unplugged acoustic music to ultra electronic arrangements of an already known song.
Today’s gift is the presentation and streaming-upload of songs from our debut album “Fokus”. Since traditional copyright protects our tracks from the album, hence the streaming only, we decided to upload TWO songs as compensation ;)

The songs are “Kibitzer” and “Selskab” – two great and very old compositions, which some people actually occasionally remember from back in the old days when we were a quartet (2005).

GIFT WEEK - day 2

New dawn fades, and we are ready for day 2 in our gift week.
Yesterdays video-gift was long on the way since YouTube and Vimeo refused to upload high quality mov.-files. Finally we managed to overrule the laws of nature and get the video out in the open!

Day 2 presents the track “Angst i biler” (eng.: “Anxiety in cars”), known from the unplugged video we did in August ’08, in its original electronic form. This is a live-recording from Trinitatis Church in Copenhagen, Denmark, on March 31st – it was our opening song at the gig.
The sound on this recording is rather “bread and scrape” since we did the recording with only two tracks. But the idea of this gift is to present “Angst i biler” in its original form in the best suitable place for it: a grand church.

GIFT WEEK - day 1

Today we start our gift week on the Epicentre blogs and community networks and websites.
Every day throughout this week, we will give you a gift; it’s our way of presenting new material and old material reformed – and our way of saying a million thanks to all of our listeners and all the people who have supported us and come to our concerts. We love you! :)

Here on day 1 we are proud to give you a new video of a new song called “Små Partikler” (in English: “Minor Particles”) in an unplugged version for acoustic guitar, double bass and vocals. The original version of the song is tech-like fast and groovy pop – this unplugged version was just a fast idea we had one day when the weather was sunny and we we’re feeling all right!
